When I receive an email on my hotmail account, MSN displays a pop up as expected, but when I click it, it opens Internet Explorer to show me my inbox. Now, Firefox is my default browser ( I know how to change it, and have done so) so why does MSN use IE?
Anyone know how to change it to FF?

you can use stuffplug, its an addition to msn live and you can select with browser you want your email to open with, along with many more choices.

I'm agree with the statement that It seems a different problem other than Virus attack. It may be due to a slow Internet connection too. some time I also face such problem due to slow connections but usually it get solved on other day. Just check your modem settings, if could help you. Some time it may be due to windows itself, need a fresh install, but I think you are able to visit most of the Internet sites so it may not be a better solution this time, we'll use it as last weapon. Otherwise go to control panel, use Add or Remove Program link to go through the installed programs and just un-install those programs which you don't know i.e. programs from unknown source, you can un-install many programs in one pass. It will remove most of the ad-wares. Last words - Since you have tried all other solutions and not a computer savvy, and if, it also does not work or help then better to go for a fresh install of Windows. But Backup all your data and collect all the drivers in a CD for all of your devices, before going for a fresh installation. Good Luck!

Simply:

- Open up Firefox -> go to 'Tools' -> go to the advanced tab

- and check/tick 'Always check to say if Firefox is the default browser on startup' then click the button next to it 'Check now'.

Then your all done.

~ Hope it helps.
