How do I get my Outlook Express 6 to sync up with my other email address?

I follow the prompts but they always say that there was an error or it could not access the email program. I thought I had it with my Hotmail acct. but it will not do it cuz it is a free account & my Outlook Express is not from 2003 or 2007
I signed up in 2005.
Am I typing in the wrong email address to sync them up? I type in "www.yahoomail.com" then it asks me for an address for the outgoing server, isn't that the same as the incoming server?
I can't get past the first steps to set up my Outlook Express 6! I feel so dumb! LOL
What am I doing wrong that I can't sync it up?
Whenever I see an article online I want to email to a pal I click on "email this article" & the Outlook Express 6 pops up as my email server & I can't mail it out because it will not link up to any of the email addys I put in for it to connect with/to.
Before my Yahoo mail always popped up in that circumstance out of nowhere Outlook Express 6 started popping up. I did not change it so what gives?

Well, I have to assume you're talking about a free yahoo account. It matters which email you're talking about.

You can't use OE with the free yahoo, hotmail, etc. They don't have pop servers.

OE "pops up" because it's set as the default mail application on your computer.

If you have an email account thru your internet provider, then set up OE for that. If you want to send urls through your yahoo account, then copy the url into a yahoo email msg to your friend.

You are probably doing the right steps.

The "free" e mail accounts depend upon advertisers to fund the system. Ads will not be shown on e mail downloaded to e mail clients like Outlook. Because the ad revenue is the driver, free e mail accounts cannot be downloaded to e mail clients.

If you have a service that can be downloaded, you enter the e mail account name including the domain, the e mail password, the smtp server name, the IMAP or POP3 server name, and then you address security issues in regards to outgoing authentication, SSL use, and port # changes as the case may be. The free e mail accounts will not provide you the critical POP3 and SMTP server and related info.

Your e mail default is shown in Internet Explorer.
