2008-06-27 02:42:34 UTC
On my msn there is a new version for it. It lets you put ypur name in colour and other things like that. Everytime i try to install it on my computer it says there was a fatal error.. I have Windows XP. Im wondering if this version is only for Windows Vista because all the people who i know who have the new version are on Vista

hi

you have to install first the official version 8.5

http://get.live.com/messenger/overview

the get PLUS

http://www.msgpluslive.net

(do not support the sponsor)

then you can create a coloured nick

once installed PLUS

open MSN

tools

options

write the nick

then click the button that says 'color codes'

chose the color you want

apply/ok

if you want to colorize the nick background

click at 'color codes'

then select T

select the color you want

apply/ok

you can also this script for PLUS.. it's really fine

script name editor

http://www.msgpluslive.net/scripts/view/276-NameEditor/

if you want tu use color codes

select the color you want using the color chart of your conversation window

for ex. 2 (blue)

then put the codes with the nickname in the middle

[c=2]your name[/c]

if you want a graduated nick

example

[c=2]your name[/c=4] (4 is red)

you can also change the font styles

your name bold

your name italic

your name underlined

if you want to colorize the nick background use 'a'

[a=18][c=2]your name[/c= 4][/a=18]

you can use one of these color charts

http://usuarios.sion.com/pauluk/coloreshtml.htm

-->> your friends can only see the colors when they are using PLUS

-->>if you want to colorize your pesonal message (subnick)

you better add yourself so you can see the results

to change a color we have to write •$X (uppercase+3 y uppercase+4)

where X is the color number you we want to use

copy the color codes of the color charts I left above or use the one of the conversation window

.. the icon with the little color squares

for example

[ c=#328FC2 ][ /c ]

copy #328FC2 and in your subnick it will be that kind

•$#328FC2 and your message

another example

red green blue

•$4red•$ •$3green•$ •$blue•$

writing these symbols our contacts will see a colored personal message we had selected

If we want to finish a color and leave it normally just write •$

so you can create a subnick (personal message) with several colors

and also

•# (if you want bold)

•@ (if you want underlined)

•& (if you want italic)

you can also use this script for PLUS.. it's really fine

script name editor

http://www.msgpluslive.net/scripts/view/276-NameEditor/

having PLUS you can also use this web

Im on XP and also used windows live, I updated now I get messages" There is an error...windows has to close"... and lose it, logs o.ff Specially if more than one person on there at a time,,,, But ordinary windows messenger, no problem. The addresses and contacts are common. load on one and its on the other too. So possibly its right . the new update is for Vista..and other systems get problems...

Windows Live Messenger Version 2009 (9.0)

Windows Live Messenger 9 is currently in development. In a Presentation to the Georgia Institute of Technology's IEEE Student Branch, Microsoft employee and Georgia Tech Andrew Jenks announced that it will ship "in late 08 or early 09".Internal builds are already at WLM 9 and includes many of the API components. They have a team working on multi-person audio/video chat for WLM that may or may not be in version 9, but is expected to be in by 10. They are also attempting to work out a way for WLM users to chat with AIM/XMPP/ICQ users like the way Yahoo! Messenger works now, and they have a basic internal version that works with Jabber already.Features published by the news site Liveside include specialized features against messaging spam, the ability to stay signed into the application from several computers (referred to as "Multiple Points of Presence Support"), animated GIF files in the photo area, per-contact customized sounds for various user actions, and clickable URLs in the status area.On November 20, 2007, an invitation to participate in the Windows Live Messenger 9 Beta was sent out to beta testers on http://connect.microsoft.com/. Later on November 27, 2007, Microsoft began sending out emails to beta testers, welcoming them to the Windows Live Messenger 9 Beta program. The current beta version of WLM 9, in contrast with current stable versions of Windows Live Messenger, does not include the device manager. This resulted in some WLM-compatible devices not functioning, including the official Live Messenger Phone.
